About

Growing up in a small Midwestern town helped develop JC’s robust and active imagination. Her work often delves into classism, gender inequality, and other injustices while focusing on transformation and healing.

With over 20 short films produced, JC has earned many accolades and awards throughout her career.  Her feature GHOSTWRITER, which she produced, premiered at Dances with Films. Her comedy short WE HATE BOB was in multiple film festivals winning two Audience Choice awards: a Best Writer and a Best Director award.  Her short horror film, TAKE A BREATH, has been featured on Shudder for the 13 Minutes of Horror Film Festival.

Recently, her short sci-fi/horror script A VIOLENT FLAMMABLE WORLD was a top 10 Finalist at Cinequest, a finalist at Shockfest Film Festival, and a second-rounder at the Austin Film Festival.

Having worked for years in features, shorts, commercials, reality shows, as well as improv and stage shows, JC has gained experience in all areas of filmmaking and theatre. She has also worked with several arts organizations and festivals, including the Chicago International Film Festival, Chicago Improv Festival, and the Independent Film Exhibition Conference.

Through her participation in the Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab, the Stowe Story Producers Lab, and the Chicago Independent Producers Lab, JC has honed her craft, perfecting her unique style. JC serves as a committee member for the SAG-AFTRA/IFA Chicago table read competition, is a screener for film festivals, and provides script analysis for competitions.

JC loves to travel, particularly to haunted places, and is an enthusiastic advocate for lifelong learning.
