About

Raised in a small Midwestern town helped develop JC’s active imagination and early fascination with what lurks beneath the surface of ordinary life – a curiosity that now defines her work as a filmmaker. Her projects confront classism, gender inequality, and systemic injustices, while emphasizing transformation and healing.

With over 20 projects directed and produced, JC has earned many accolades and awards throughout her career.  Her feature as producer, GHOSTWRITER, premiered at Dances with Films. Her comedy short WE HATE BOB was in multiple film festivals, winning two Audience Choice awards: a Best Writer and a Best Director award.  Her short horror film, TAKE A BREATH, has been featured on Shudder for the 13 Minutes of Horror Film Festival.

She completed her short proof of concept sci-fi/horror A VIOLENT FLAMMABLE WORLD in 2026 with the assistance of an Illinois Arts Council grant. Currently, the film is gearing up for a festival run.

Working across narrative features, shorts, commercials, reality television, improv, and stage shows, JC brings a multidisciplinary perspective to storytelling. She has also worked with several arts organizations and festivals, including the Chicago International Film Festival, Chicago Improv Festival, and the Independent Film Exhibition Conference.

She has further developed her craft through her participation in the Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab, the Stowe Story Producers Lab, and the Chicago Independent Producers Lab. JC serves as a committee member for the SAG-AFTRA/IFA Chicago table read competition, At The Table, is a screener for film festivals, and provides script analysis for competitions.

A devoted traveler drawn to haunted places and hidden histories, JC is also a committed advocate for lifelong learning and artistic curiosity.
